WOOFING – 2019
During my WWOOFing experience in Milam, Texas, I had the unique opportunity to combine hands-on home renovation work with cultural exploration across major American cities. This experience not only enhanced my practical skills but also broadened my cultural understanding, making me a more versatile and globally-aware individual.
Skills Developed

1. Home Renovation and Construction
- Varnished wood surfaces to restore and enhance finishes.
- Installed kitchen hardware and fixtures to improve functionality and design.
- Set up bathroom facilities to ensure proper plumbing and installation.
- Mounted outdoor appliances such as fans for comfort and utility.
- Assisted with cooling system installation to optimize temperature regulation.

2. Animal Care and Property Maintenance
- Fed and groomed various animals, including llamas, goats, chickens, dogs, and cats.
- Performed essential gardening tasks, such as pruning and lawn mowing, to maintain the property’s appearance.
3. Cultural Awareness and Historical Knowledge
- Explored major Texan cities including Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.
- Visited significant historical and cultural sites, including:
- Frontiers of Flight Museum (Dallas)
- Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza (Dallas)
- Texas State Capitol (Austin)
- The Alamo (San Antonio)
- Space Center Houston

4. Technical Understanding
- Gained insights into aerospace technology at NASA's Space Center.
- Experienced simulations of historical space missions to understand the technological advancements.
- Gained knowledge of aeronautics devices during visits in Dallas.
This WWOOFing experience significantly enhanced my practical skills, cultural understanding, and ability to work in diverse environments. It demonstrated my capacity to adapt, learn quickly, and contribute effectively to both hands-on projects and community-building efforts.
